Rummy is a series of card games famous for same suit, matching cards of the same rank or pattern and also the same suit. The objective in any variant of rummy is to build pairs or ragged runs that will eventually go through to the next layer and be eliminated. The basic strategy of any type of rummy is to lay down a spread containing as many of your opponent’s cards as possible in order to create a longer lasting riddle that can continue to the next round. Placing the right bet can make the difference between victory and defeat.

There are three basic types of rummy: the Public Rummy, The Caution Rummy and the VIP Rummy. All these variants have their own unique rules but essentially work in the same way. For instance, in the public rummy, all cards are laid out from the starting hand face up in front of you, requiring you to identify and bet against all of the cards that are visible to you. You are allowed to use both your hands to place bids on cards and you are penalized if your bids win but not by the amount of the bet you placed.

The caution rummy involves laying out the cards face down and then deciding what order to place them in before placing your bid. Once all of the cards have been placed into their respective piles you are allowed to mix and match them in whatever order you wish before proceeding to the next rummy phase. You must always begin your turn with the most concealed card in your pile by putting it from behind your back. Once all of the concealed cards have been revealed, you may place all of your hidden cards in your front row but not the cards behind your back.

The VIP rummy phase is a very fast paced part of the game as there are more high quality cards in this pile than in any other pile. This allows the player to be able to see how well each of their individual cards is being dealt. Each player is permitted to place one card from their hand into their own private pile. After the first few players have begun to be dealt, the game will then proceed to the dealer seating round. The last three players in the game are usually seated around a table that is allotted only for the VIPs.

It is during the last few rounds of betting when the real action takes place. A player can either call a card or raise a particular card without having to reveal it to the other players. They also have the option of placing their raised card into their own private meld pile. If they choose to do this, no other players are allowed to call those cards unless they also use their own private meld pile. Once all of the players have placed their cards in their private piles the last person standing is the winner. At this point, it is considered to be the end of the game and everyone has officially been sent home.
